Dear Public Service Commissioners,
Enbridge Energy has received permits to begin building the Line 3 ‘Replacement’ pipeline in Minnesota, bringing additional oil into Superior, Wisconsin. From there, Enbridge will likely begin moving forward on a new pipeline in Wisconsin to move this oil south. Since Wisconsin already has significantly more oil flowing through it than we use and we don’t need more oil, this will benefit only Enbridge. Based on Enbridge’s work behind-the-scenes to change the eminent domain law, they will likely be applying for a public interest determination to use condemnation to acquire the land needed for this new pipeline.
We, the undersigned, are asking you to withhold any public interest determination until you’ve held hearings in every county where property would be condemned for the pipeline.
Once we have enough signatures or Enbridge applies for a Public Interest Determination, we will deliver these. Thank you for taking action on this important issue.
